Texans vs. Colts Total Prediction
AFC South rivals will meet in Indy this Sunday where the Colts will host the winless Houston Texans at 1:00 p.m. ET. Given how badly these teams have struggled offensively, is the betting total too high for this matchup?
Game Snapshot
253 Houston Texans at 254 Indianapolis Colts
1:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, September 30
Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Colts are 1.5-point favorites to beat the Texans. The total, meanwhile, sits at 47 points. As of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets are on the Colts to cover the point spread.
Houston Texans Fantasy News & Notes
DeAndre Hopkins (ankle, hamstring, thumb) remained limited at Thursday’s practice. We can’t remember the last time Hopkins got in a full practice. That being said, none of Hopkins’ various injuries are thought to be serious. He will be out there Sunday against Indianapolis. As usual, he’ll be a WR1 for that matchup.
Indianapolis Colts Fantasy News & Notes
Marlon Mack (hamstring) practiced again on Thursday. It’s a good sign after Mack got in a “limited” session on Wednesday. We would expect that to remain the tag for Thursday. If Mack manages to return against the Texans, he will not be a recommended FLEX play in the Colts’ hopelessly committee’d backfield.
NFL Betting Trends
Houston
The under is 6-1 in the Texans’ last seven road games and 4-1 in their last five divisional matchups.
Indianapolis
The under is 8-0 in the Colts’ last eight games coming off a loss and 10-1 in their last 11 games overall.
Prediction
This total would make sense if Deshaun Watson of a year ago or Andrew Luck of four years ago were playing but 47? Thus far, the Texans have scored 20, 17 and 22 points. And every one of those points was gained the hard way. Watson has often ran for his life behind the work of a crap Houston offensive line. As for the Colts, they’ve been even worse offensively, scoring 23, 21 and 16 points over their first three games. Luck has also turned into a dink-and-dunk artist in his return to the field and both defenses have plenty well. I won’t belabor the point: This total is way too high.
NFL Week 4 Prediction: Texans/Colts under 47
