NFL Week 3, Regular Season
Tennessee Titans DFS Spin
Ryan Tannehill completed 18-of-24 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns in the Titans’ Week 2 win over Jacksonville. The Titans called fewer pass plays with A.J. Brown sidelined, but Tannehill was effective in the red-zone. All four of his touchdowns came there, and Tannehill led Tennessee to a game-winning field goal with under two minutes. The Titans went run heavy after throwing 43 times last week. Tannehill spread it out when he threw, with Adam Humphries (6) out-targeting Jonnu Smith (5) and Corey Davis (5). Tennessee is undefeated with wins over Denver and the Jaguars the first two weeks. Tannehill will take a 6:0 TD/INT ratio into a Week 3 matchup with the Vikings.
Minnesota Vikings DFS Spin
Kirk Cousins completed 11-of-26 passes for 113 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions in the Vikings’ 28-11, Week 2 loss to the Colts. Pathetic. Just pathetic. Cousins also took a safety where he held onto the ball in the end zone for approximately 20 minutes too long. The Vikings’ offense has now looked expansion-level terrible for 3-of-4 halves this season, missing Stefon Diggs as badly as someone could be missed. Cousins has no one to throw to beyond Adam Thielen, but his interceptions today were just straight up bad decisions. Cousins still turns in an unacceptable amount of these performances. He will not be a recommended QB2 streamer/super FLEX option in Week 3 against the Titans.
Titans vs. Vikings Betting Prediction
The losses of Kevin Stefanski and Stefon Diggs appear to be a bigger deal for Cousins than anyone could have expected. The Vikings have attempted eight play-action passes this season, tied for the fewest in the NFL. Cousins thrived off play-action a year ago, connecting on 13 touchdown passes. He’s also thrown four interceptions when targeting his wide receivers this season after throwing five to his wideouts all of last year. Tannehill, meanwhile, has thrown multiple touchdown passes in nine straight games, which is the longest active streak in the NFL and the longest in franchise history. The Titans are 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven games when favored and have covered in seven of their last 10 games dating back to last season.
