Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Dolphins are 3-point favorites to beat the Raiders. The total, meanwhile, sits at 44.5 points. As of this writing, 52% of the public betting tickets are on the Raiders to cover the point spread.
Oakland Raiders
Marshawn Lynch (shoulder) wasn’t listed on the Raiders’ final injury report for Week 3 against the Dolphins. Lynch only got in limited practices this week but obviously his shoulder injury is nothing serious. He’ll be in play as a back-end RB2 against Miami.
Miami Dolphins
Ryan Tannehill was taken off the Week 3 injury report. Tannehill was listed with knee/ankle injures this week but didn’t miss any practice time. Playing against a Raiders secondary that’s been better than expected, Tannehill is a low-ceiling QB2 for Week 3.
NFL Betting Trends
Oakland
The Raiders are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games played in the month of September but are 2-5-1 against the number in their last eight road games.
Miami
The Dolphins are 4-22 against the spread in their last 26 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
Prediction
I liked the Dolphins to pull off the win last week in New York but I’m fading them in this spot. There’s something fishy about this line (no pun intended). The Dolphins are off to a 2-0 start, which includes an upset win last week in New York when everyone was backing the Jets, yet they’re only favored by a field goal at home against a Raiders team that has started 0-2? Home teams catch between 2 and 3 points just for being at home, so what oddsmakers are telling us is that this is a pick’em at a neutral site? The Raiders have played better offensively than their results would indicate, and they should have won last week in Denver. This is the day Gruden gets his first win now that he’s back in the NFL.
