Chiefs vs. 49ers Spread Prediction
The Kansas City Chiefs have been lighting up the scoreboard in the early part of the season and will look to go 3-0 on the season with a victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Even if they reach that small milestone, will they cover the spread as nearly a touchdown-sized home favorite today at 1:00 p.m. ET?

Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Chiefs are 6.5-point favorites to beat the 49ers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 55 points. As of this writing, 68% of the public betting tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the point spread.
San Francisco 49ers
49ers LB Reuben Foster said returning from his two-game suspension is “like a holiday.”
“Just knowing I can come back and play the game I love,” Foster said. “So I’m just happy to be playing the cards right and doing good off the field and on the field, and doing nothing off the field so I won’t be off the field again.” With Malcolm Smith (hamstring) set to return from injury, the 49ers’ linebacking corps suddenly looks like a strength.
Kansas City Chiefs
Eric Berry (heel) is doubtful for Week 3 against the 49ers. Berry is headed for his third straight absence. Tight end George Kittle will get a much easier matchup with Berry sidelined. He’s a good bounce-back candidate after disappointing with only two catches against the Lions in Week 2.
NFL Betting Trends
San Francisco
The 49ers are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 road games.
Kansas City
The Chiefs have covered the spread in six of their last seven games and are a perfect 6-0 against the number in their last six games played in the month of September.
Prediction
This should be a shootout and while you need to pick your spots, I like taking dogs in potential shootouts. What oddsmakers are essentially telling you with the total set in the mid-50s is that both teams can score. And if both teams are expected to score, that means neither team can play defense. Speaking of which, while the Chiefs own the top-ranked offense through two weeks, they’re also dead last in defensive DVOA. We know Jimmy G can move the ball when the Niners are firing on all cylinders offensively and I like them to today.
