Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Texans are 6-point favorites to beat the Giants. The total, meanwhile, sits at 43.5 points. As of this writing, 55% of the public betting tickets are on the Texans to cover the point spread.
New York Giants
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Giants have benched RT Ereck Flowers. The Giants had hoped that moving Flowers to the right side would reinvigorate him, but clearly that has not been the case through two games. The 24-year-old has been a complete and utter liability, earning PFF’s No. 60 grade out of 68 qualifiers at tackle. Chad Wheeler will spell Flowers at right tackle Sunday against Houston. To quote Gob Bluth, using a first-round pick on Flowers was a huge mistake.
Houston Texans
DeAndre Hopkins (ankle, hamstring, thumb) wasn’t listed on the Texans’ final injury report for Week 3 against the Giants. Neither was teammate Will Fuller (hamstring). Hopkins blew up for 110 yards and a touchdown in last week’s loss to Tennessee and should be counted on for another big game Sunday, even in a tough matchup against Janoris Jenkins.
NFL Betting Trends
New York
The Giants are 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games.
Houston
The Texans are 0-7 against the number in their last seven games played overall.
Prediction
Both of these teams look like messes through the first two weeks of the season yet the Texans are the ones laying nearly a touchdown with the point spread. That’s because of these two teams, Houston is the one that could rebound after an 0-2 start, while New York will struggle to win five games. The Giants’ offensive line is a mess and Eli Manning isn’t good enough anymore to lift the talent around him. J.J. Watt and Co. should have a field day against this Giants offense while Deshaun Watson rebounds following back-to-back lackluster games.
