NFL Week 2

New England Patriots DFS Spin

Cam Newton completed 15-of-19 passes for 155 yards and rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in the Patriots' Week 1 win over the Dolphins. Newton looked healthy as an elite short-yardage rusher and as a passer in his Patriots debut. The offense utilized two-tight end sets and is set to be one of the league's most run-heavy offenses with Newton leading the way. He was effective on option runs, scoring twice to the outside near the goal-line. Newton's shoulder looked normal, throwing with velocity and accuracy on limited reps. He checked every box as a potential comeback player of the year candidate and as a QB1 in fantasy. Newton will face a tougher matchup in Seattle next week, although their defensive line looks to be below average.

Seattle Seahawks DFS Spin

Russell Wilson completed 31-of-35 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns in the Seahawks' 38-25, Week 1 win over the Falcons. With the Seahawks finally opening up the offense — early-down passing, pre-snap motion, play action, etc. — Russ cooked the Falcons alive, completing 88.6 percent of his passes while finding each of DK Metcalf, Greg Olsen and Chris Carson for touchdowns. Metcalf's score was emblematic of the Hawks' new approach, as Wilson found him singled up on fourth down. Metcalf roasted Isaiah Oliver down the sideline for his 38-yard touchdown. One week does not a commitment make, but coach Pete Carroll and OC Brian Schottenheimer finally appear serious about opening up their offense. Playing with a lead suited them well today as their pass defense showed deficiencies. Today was highly encouraging, but Week 2's challenge will be an order of magnitude more difficult in the Patriots.

Patriots vs. Seahawks Betting Prediction

The over is a perfect 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams, is 6-2 in the Patriots’ last eight games as an underdog and has cashed in four of their last five games following a win. On the other side, the over is 7-3 in the Seahawks’ last 10 games coming off an ATS win and is 11-5 in their last 16 games following a straight up victory.
