Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Packers are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -1 point against the Vikings. The over/under total is currently listed at 46.5 points. The public betting for this game currently is unavailable. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NFL Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Rodgers injured for Packers
The Packers picked up a 24-23 win over the Chicago Bears last week, overcoming a 20-0 deficit and a knee injury to Aaron Rodgers to still win the game. The Packers did fail to cover as a 6.5-point favorite, but they did hit the over of 45 points. Green Bay has failed to cover the spread in its last three games.
Rodgers is listed as questionable to play with a knee sprain, but he did practice on Saturday and is expected to at least try to give it a go today. He ended up throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns to lead Green Bay to the win last week after suffering the injury. Randall Cobb caught nine passes for 142 yards, including the game-winning 75-yard touchdown. Defensively, Green bay held Chicago to 294 total yards, including just 155 passing yards.
Vikings pose a challenge
The Minnesota Vikings are coming off a 24-16 win at home over the San Francisco 49ers in the opener. The 49ers had a lot of buzz coming into the season and Minnesota was able to lock them up. The Vikings covered as a 6-point favorite and went under the 46.5-point total.
The Vikings were strong on defense once again, holding the 49ers to 327 total yards while creating four turnovers and picking up three sacks. Offensively, Minnesota put up 343 yards. Kirk Cousins threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns on 20 of 36 passing in his debut with the Vikings. Adam Thielen caught six passes for 102 yards while Dalvin Cook was held to 40 rushing yards on 16 carries in his first game back from a knee injury.
NFL Betting Trends
Green Bay
The Packers have failed to cover in seven of their last eight against winning teams and in five of their last six at home.
Minnesota
The Vikings are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games in September and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games.
Prediction:
The Vikings swept the season series last year and have won and covered in four of the last five against the Packers. Anthony Mack knocked out Rodgers last season and now the Green Bay QB comes into this game hurting and still with a poor offensive line. You can bet the Vikings will be aggressive on defense and test that knee and I don’t think Rodgers will be able to move the ball effectively against this Minnesota defense. Rodgers is great, but he’s facing a much tougher defense this week.
