Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Cowboys are 3-point favorites to beat the Giants. The total, meanwhile, sits at 42.5 points. As of this writing, 62% of the public betting tickets are on the Giants to cover the point spread.
New York Giants
Olivier Vernon (ankle) is out for Week 2 against the Cowboys. Vernon is still dealing with a high-ankle sprain and has yet to play this season. The G-Men will again roll with Kareem Martin, Lorenzo Carter, and Connor Barwin off the edge. It’s a positive for Dak Prescott in the pocket.
Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys DE Randy Gregory (concussion) is doubtful for Week 2 against the Giants. Gregory has been medically cleared to practice but his availability for Sunday night remains highly doubtful. DE Taco Charlton played 49 snaps with Gregory in and out of the lineup in Week 1 and would receive similar work if Gregory is declared inactive.
NFL Betting Trends
New York
The Giants are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games versus NFC opponents.
Dallas
The Cowboys have covered the spread in five of their last six games versus NFC East rivals.
Prediction
The Cowboys really struggled offensively a week ago and I don’t believe that will be a one-week aberration. Dak Prescott has zero outside weapons in the passing game and while Cole Beasley is a nice player, he’s not enough to beat opponents weekly. It would help if the Cowboys threw more passes to running back Ezekiel Elliott but they under-utilize him and it’ll continue to cost them. While the Giants didn’t score many points last week in their opener, they actually moved the ball okay against that stout Jacksonville defense. I love the points tonight with the Giants, who should win outright.
