Chiefs vs. Texans Pick
The Houston Texans look to avenge last year’s embarrassing playoff loss when they host the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday at 1PM ET on CBS.
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Texans are a slight favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Chiefs. The over/under total for the game has been set at 43 points. These two met in the playoffs last year with KC getting a 30-0 win at Houston. The Chiefs have won their last three against the Texans.

Houston had a nice win at home to kick off the season last week, beating the Bears 23-14. The defense took charge in the win, holding the Bears to just 258 total yards, including just 73 rushing yards. The defensive line was on Jay Cutler all game, sacking him five times with 12 total QB hits. Houston fans had questions over new acquisitions on offense, but both played pretty well. Lamar Miller rushed for 106 yards on 28 carries while Brock Osweiler threw for 231 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Osweiler found a new star receiver in rookie Will Fuller, who caught five passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
The Chiefs had one of the more interesting wins in Week 1, beating the Chargers 33-27 in overtime. KC fell behind 24-3 midway through the third quarter but rallied to pick up the victory. The Chiefs finished with 413 yards of offense as Alex Smith threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns while Spencer Ware had 70 rushing yards and 129 receiving yards. The KC defense was a mess early in the game, but really locked in for the second half. They did give up 155 rushing yards to the San Diego Chargers, though, which has to be a concern getting ready to face a run-heavy Texans team.

There’s just something about the Chiefs. They seem to have that “it” factor. Maybe it is Andy Reid, maybe it is Alex Smith? Who knows. But, KC definitely does seem to know how to win the games they should win. Conversely, Houston is not good at winning the big games. This is a game that could really help stamp the Texans as a force in the AFC, but I don’t trust them to win it. Osweiler still has a lot to prove in pressure games. Alex Smith and the Chiefs don’t. They remained calm when down big and found a way to win last week. Look for them to build on that and get a big win on the road this week.
