Raiders hammered by Rams
The Oakland Raiders opened the season on Monday night with a 33-13 loss to the Rams at home. It wasn’t a great debut for Jon Gruden. The Raiders failed to cover as a 6.5-point underdog and they went under the 47.5-point total. Oakland has hit the under in nine of their last 10 games.
The Raiders started the loss with a touchdown and then got outscored 33-6 from there. They finished the game with 395 yards of offense while giving up 365 yards to the Rams. Derek Carr threw for 303 yards and had three interceptions. Tight end Jared Cook had a big game, catching nine passes for 180 yards. The Oakland defense gave up 140 rushing yards to the Rams in the loss.
Broncos edge Seattle
The Broncos started the season with a 27-24 win at home over the Seahawks last week. Seattle pushed on the 3-poitn spread while going over the 42.5-point total. The Seahawks have hit the over in five of their last six games.
Denver put up 470 yards of offense in the victory while holding Seattle to just 306 total yards while forcing three turnovers. Von Miller racked up three sacks in the victory. Case Keenum had a nice debut for the team despite throwing three interceptions. He finished with 329 passing yards and three touchdowns. Rookie backs Phillips Lindsay and Royce Freeman combined for 142 rushing yards while Emmanuel Sanders had 10 catches for 135 yards and a touchdown.
NFL Betting Trends
Oakland
The Raiders have hit the under in their last four conference games and in their last eight games on grass.
Denver
The Broncos have hit the over in seven straight September games. However, they have hit the under in eight of their last nine games against a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in five of their last six meetings. Oakland has potential on offense, but things just haven’t been clicking for the last year. Denver’s pass rush will be a problem for the Raiders and keep them from scoring often. The Broncos looked pretty good on offense, but I don’t see them putting up a giant score on Sunday either. Go with the under for this one.
NFL Prediction: Raiders/Broncos Under 45.5
