Indianapolis Colts Fantasy Spin
Jacoby Brissett completed 21-of-27 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the Colts’ Week 1 loss to the Chargers. Brissett took just two sacks and didn’t turn the ball over, giving the Colts a chance to win a game they actually should have taken if not for a missed extra point and two shanked field goals by Adam Vinatieri before the game eventually went to over time. Both of Brissett’s touchdown passes went to T.Y. Hilton, who was targeted on 33% of Brissett’s throws. Brissett will be a backend QB2 in a tough road spot against the Titans in Week 2.
Tennessee Titans Fantasy Spin
Marcus Mariota completed 14-of-24 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns while adding 24 yards on three carries Sunday in Tennessee’s Week 1 victory over the Browns. He took four sacks, resulting in a loss of 32 yards. Mariota was lousy in the first half (8-for-15, 105 yards) but got cooking after halftime, shredding Cleveland for a trio of second-half touchdowns including a 75-yarder to Derrick Henry, which staked Tennessee to a 22-13 lead with 1:57 to go in the third quarter. Henry admittedly did most of the work on that one, taking Mariota’s screen pass all the way for six. The 75-yard score matched the longest touchdown throw of Mariota’s five-year career. Delanie Walker has long been Mariota’s safety valve in the middle of the field and that proved true again Sunday as the tight end went for a robust 5-55-2 receiving line on six targets while showing no ill effects from last year’s ankle injury. Mariota and the Titans will look to build off Sunday’s success when they host the division-rival Colts in Week 2
NFL Betting Trends
Indianapolis
The under is 10-1 in the Colts’ last 11 games versus an opponent with a winning record.
Tennessee
The over is 4-0 in the Titans’ last four home games and is 6-1 in their last seven games overall.
Prediction
The over has cashed in all four of the last four meetings between these two teams in Nashville. The Titans defense remains highly underrated, as they showed last week in Cleveland, but this Colts squad also proved last Sunday in L.A. that they’re not going to be hopeless without Andrew Luck running their offense. The Colts scored 33 points in Tennessee last season and 38 at home. Granted, both of those games were with Andrew Luck under center but clearly Frank Reich has a good read on how to move the ball against Tennessee.
NFL Week 2 Prediction: Colts/Titans OVER 44.5
