Browns vs. Jets Odds
Two teams with plenty of questions as quarterback meet up on Sunday when the New York Jets host the Cleveland Browns at 1PM ET on CBS.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, the Jets are the slight favorite at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Browns. The over/under total for the game is listed at 40 points. The favorite has covered the spread in 5 straight meetings between these two.
The New York Jets were 4-12 last season which spelled the end of the Rex Ryan era in New York. The Jets were 6-9-1 against the spread last season and they were 9-7 with the under. Todd Bowles is the new head coach. He is coming off being the defensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals. Bowles is missing a lot of key pieces to start the season as quarterback Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw after being struck by a teammate. Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson is suspended for four games while cornerback Dee Milliner is on the IR with a wrist injury. Ryan Fitzpatrick will start at quarterback for the Jets. He threw for 2,483 yards and 17 touchdowns last season with the Texans.
The Browns were 7-9 last season in the first under coach Mike Pettine. The Browns were 9-5-2 against the spread last year while going 11-5 with the under. Pettine brings in an unproven roster as Josh McCown is the starting quarterback while Johnny Manziel is battling an injury, but could eventually be in the mix. The 36-year-old McCown threw for 2,206 yards and 11 touchdowns with 14 interceptions last season with Tampa Bay. The Browns are lacking in playmakers on offense as stud receiver Josh Gordon is suspended for the season with another failed drug test. One of the anticipated skill players if rookie running back Duke Johnson, but he is questionable for the game with a concussion.
