Texans' Clowney to be active Week 1

Texans Jadeveon Clowney will be active for Week 1, won't start vs. Chiefs

Although he won't start versus the Chiefs on Sunday, Jadeveon Clowney is expected to be active for the Texans in Week 1.

The 2014 No. 1 overall pick was held out of practice with a knee injury until August 20 but Clowney's recovery is on track and he will be in uniform this Sunday when the Texans host the Chiefs at 1:00PM ET. Coach Bill O'Brien isn't sure if Clowney will be on a snap count for the opener, but even having him rush the passer in sub packages would be a huge benefit for Houston.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Texans are 1.5-point home favorites versus the Chiefs in Week 1 while the over/under is currently sitting at 42 points.

The road team is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams.
