Seahawks 2013-14 Season Odds
SEATTLE, WA (The Spread) – The Seattle Seahawks head into the 2013 NFL season as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Seahawks are 17/2 to win the 2014 Super Bowl, which gives them the second-best odds behind co-favorites Denver and San Francisco (6/1). The Seahawks are also 5/1 to win the NFC Conference championship, +110 to win the NFC West Division, and have an over/under of 10.5 for number of regular season wins this season. They’re also -275 to make the playoffs and +215 to miss the postseason.
Seattle was busy this offseason, signing Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett, Tony McDaniel, Antoine Winfield and Marcus Trufant to free agent deals. The team also added receiver Percy Harvin via a trade with the Vikings, but he’s likely to miss the entire season after having surgery on his hip.
In the draft the team added running abck Christine Michael, defensive tackle Jordan Hill, receiver Chris Harper, nose tackle Jesse Williams, cornerback Tharold Simon and tight end Luke Wilson. Michael adds to the already stacked Seahawks’ backfield.
The loss of Harvin certainly hurts but he figured to only add to Seattle’s already potent offense. This team still has Russell Wilson at quarterback, Marshawn Lynch at running back, and one of the best defenses in the league led by Richard Sherman and that physical secondary. The key is whether or not this team can stay healthy (Chris Clemons is currently rehabbing a knee injury and is uncertain to play in the first quarter of the season) and focused (2012 first-round pick Bruce Irvin was suspended for the first four games of the season). But Pete Carroll’s squad has as much chance as any team in the NFL of making a Super Bowl run.
