Patriots vs. Lions Preseason Pick
Will the Patriots cover the spread tonight when they visit the Lions at 7:00PM ET in preseason play?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Patriots are 2.5-point road favorites tonight against the Lions, while the over/under currently sits at 43.5 points. Both the side and the total have moved off the original numbers, with the point spread climbing from New England -1 to -2.5, and the over/under dropping from 45.5 to 43.5.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: The Patriots dropped to 0-2 in preseason play with a 27-23 loss to the Texans last week. Tom Brady made his preseason debut and completed 6-of-9 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. Dion Lewis led the team in rushing while gaining 34 yards on seven carries. Finally, D.J. Foster had a big night in the passing game, catching four passes for 52 yards and a touchdown.
DETROIT LIONS: The Lions improved to 2-0 with a 16-6 victory over the Jets in their second preseason game. Matthew Stafford completed 8-of-10 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown while Dwayne Washington rushed eight times for 24 yards. Marvin Jones led the team in receiving with four catches for 34 yards and a score.

OUR PREDICTION: If the Patriots play their starters a full half tonight, then I like New England to build a big enough lead to secure a victory. In the last three years, the Patriots have won the third game of their preseason. The third preseason game is a dress rehearsal for the regular season and New England is set for a significantly better season than Detroit.
