Panthers vs. Jaguars Prediction
Will the Panthers knock off the Jaguars Thursday night when the teams meet in preseason play at 7:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Jaguars are 1.5-point home underdogs to beat the Panthers. The game opened as a pick’em before the line moved in favor of Carolina. As far as the total, the number hit the board at 43.5 but has been dropped to 43.
CAROLINA PANTHERS: The Panthers are now 1-1 in preseason play after falling 34-27 to the Titans last Saturday afternoon. Derek Anderson was 7-of-12 passing for 88 yards with no touchdowns and an interception as Cam Newton once again sat. Cameron Artis-Payne also led the Panthers in rushing with 70 yards and a touchdown on five carries, while Austin Duke caught three passes for 41 yards.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: The Jaguars played a real barnburner last Thursday versus the Buccaners, losing 12-8 at home to drop their preseason record to 1-1. Brandon Allen was 10-of-15 for 144 yards and a touchdown while Blake Bortles and Chad Henne struggled to move the offense. Allen also added three rushes for 27 yards to lead the Jaguars in rushing, while rookie Dede Westbrook caught six passes for 131 yards.

OUR PREDICTION: Coach Ron Rivera says Cam Newton (shoulder) is on track to play tonight against the Jaguars. Newton has been throwing in team drills this week and appears set for Carolina’s regular-season dress rehearsal tonight. With how poorly the Jaguars have played offensively in preseason, I’ll lay the points with Carolina.
NFL PRESEASON PREDICTIONS: CAROLINA PANTHERS -1.5
