Falcons at Rams Odds

The St. Louis Rams look to build off the momentum of their win over the Jets in their preseason opener when they host the Atlanta Falcons on Friday at 8:00PM ET.

Thanks in large part to backup running back Samkon Gado’s 93-yard, one-touchdown performance in a 23-20 victory over the Jets last week, the Rams are 1-0 so far in preseason. Starting quarterback Marc Bulger was also 4-of-4 for 77 yards, which is an encouraging sign for St. Louis after Bulger had a poor ’08 campaign.

The Rams will host a Falcons team that lost on a last second field goal to the lowly Lions in their preseason opener. Running back Michael Turner (6 carries, 63 yards, 1 TD) was impressive, but Atlanta’s defense was not as it yielded 454 total yards to Detroit.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made the Falcons 3-point road favorites against the Rams in this contest. The over/under total has also been set at 37.

The trends favor Atlanta and the under in this matchup, as the Falcons are 20-8 against the spread coming off a road game and the Rams are 13-4 under at home coming off a non-conference game. One thing to keep in mind about betting the under, however, is that Atlanta’s defense is young and inexperienced. It’s going to take them a while to get their feet under them, which could make for a high scoring affair come Friday night.
