Patriots Season Win Total Prediction
How many games will the defending AFC Champion New England Patriots win this 2018 NFL season? Their win total has once again been set in the double digits.
New England Patriots 2018 Betting Odds
According to oddsmakers, the Patriots’ win total for 2018 has been set at 11.5, with the over and under both carrying 20/23 juice. The Patriots are also 7/1 favorites to win the 2019 Super Bowl, are 13/5 favorites to win the AFC title again, and are the odds-on favorite to win the AFC East Division at 1/6.
Offseason Additions
The Patriots brought in veteran running back Jeremy Hill, receivers Cordarrelle Patterson and Jordan Matthews, as well as tight end Troy Niklas. They signed offensive tackles Trent Brown and Matt Tobin, too, as well as added center Luke Bowanko, defensive linemen Adrian Clayborn and Danny Shelton. While he finds himself on the roster bubble, the Pats also traded for cornerback Jason McCourty.
In the draft, the Patriots used their first-round picks on Georgia offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn and his teammate, running back Sony Michel. In the second they took Florida cornerback Duke Dawson and then they didn’t have another selection until the fifth round, where they took Purdue linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley.
Offseason Departures
Running back Dion Lewis signed with the Titans, as did one-time Super Bowl hero Malcolm Brown. Receiver Brandin Cooks was traded to the Rams while offensive tackle Nate Solder signed with the Giants. Martellus Bennett, Cameron Fleming, Antonio Garcia, James Harrison, Shea McClellin and Johnson Bademosi will not be back.
Patriots Season Win Total Prediction
On top of having one of the best quarterback-coach combinations in NFL history, the Patriots also benefit from playing in the AFC East. They’ll face the Jets, Bills and Dolphins again for six of their 16 games, as well as eight bottom-ten opponents in 2018. Arguably their toughest road tests come against the Jaguars and Steelers, but both matchups are spread out (Week 2 and Week 15, respectively). At home, they’ll get the Packers, Vikings, Texans and Chiefs, which are challenging matchups, but again, they’ll be at home.
This remains one of the best-coached teams in football with some of the best talent in the league. They’re always ahead of the curve thanks to Bill Belichick and they’re never out of games thanks to Tom Brady. They once again face the incompetent opponents in the AFC East and benefit from playing in the weaker conference as well. No reason to take the under here, especially considering the Pats have won at least 12 games for eight consecutive seasons.
New England Patriots Season Win Total Prediction: Over 11.5
