Jaguars Season Win Total Prediction
The Jacksonville Jaguars went nine seasons without posting a winning record but were 10 minutes away from advancing to the Super Bowl last season. After having their best season in a decade, will the Jaguars win at least nine games in 2018?

Offseason Additions
While not an addition, the Jaguars kicked off their offseason by signing quarterback Blake Bortles to a new three-year, $54 million contract that includes $26.5 million guaranteed. In mid-March, the team then added some protection for Bortles in the form of former Panthers guard Andrew Norwell, who inked a five-year, $66.5 million contract. Jacksonville also brought back receiver Marqise Lee, signed free agent Donte Moncrief (Colts), and agreed to terms with cornerback D.J. Hayden, tight ends Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Niles Paul, and safeties Don Carey and Cody Davis.
In the draft, the Jags selected Florida defensive tackle Taven Bryan with the 29th overall pick and took LSU speedster DJ Chark in the second round. Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison was added in the third and with the 129th overall selection, Jacksonville took NC State offensive tackle Will Richardson.
Offseason Departures
Long-time linebacker Paul Posluszny announced his retirement this offseason while the team cut receiver Allen Hurns, running back Chris Ivory, tight end Marcedes Lewis and receiver Jaelen Strong, among others. Allen Robinson also left via free agency and joined the Bears.
Jaguars Season Win Total Prediction
The inclination is that the Jaguars will take a massive step backward this season after making a Super Bowl run a year ago but why would that be the case? Their defense was historically good last season, Blake Bortles is coming off his best season as a pro, they have another easy schedule (save for a couple of first-place opponents after winning the AFC South last season) and Leonard Fournette is a true difference maker. Granted, they can’t be as predictable as they were last season, especially if they do wind up falling behind more heading into the fourth quarter. But to think that the Jags will automatically take a step backward because Bortles isn’t an elite QB is an over simplification. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Jags won at least nine games and qualified for the playoffs again in a top-heavy AFC.
