Seahawks sign Wagner to extension
SEATTLE, WA (The Spread) - Just a few days after signing their quarterback to a contract extension, the Seattle Seahawks have also inked their middle linebacker.
According to Mike Garafolo, the Seahawks signed Bobby Wagner to a four-year, $43 million contract extension that will keep him in Seattle through 2019. Wagner has racked up 100-plus tackles in three straight seasons and has been one of the key figures in Seattle's dominance on defense over the past three years. He's only 25 and still has plenty of great football ahead of him.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Seahawks have 16/5 odds to win the NFC Conference Championship in 2016 and are 11/2 to win the 2016 Super Bowl.
With Wagner, Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Marshawn Lynch and Earl Thomas all locked up, Pete Carroll and John Schneider will need to continue drafting well if the Seahawks are going to contend like they have over the past three seasons. Pressure is on the front office to keep adding talent via the draft since big money is now tied up in their veteran core.
