Chargers’ 2014 Win Total Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – After a successful 2013 that saw them make the playoffs and win a postseason game on the road, will the Chargers win big again in 2014?
The Chargers mostly added roster depth in free agency this year, although they did sign former Kansas City cornerback Brandon Flowers to be a starter. Kellen Clemens was also added to backup Philip Rivers, while Donald Brown was signed as backfield depth for Ryan Mathews.
Charlie Whitehurst was one of the team’s four free agent losses that also included receiver Lavelle Hawkins, offensive lineman Steve Schilling and defensive tackle Cam Thomas. Fullback Le’Ron McClain, linebacker Terrell Manning and cornerback Derek Cox were released by the team.
In the draft the Chargers added another corner in TCU’s Jason Verrett in the first round and pass-rusher Jeremiah Attaochu from Georgia Tech in the second. In the third the team added guard Chris Watt out of Notre Dame and in the fifth they selected nose tackle Ryan Carrethers from Arkansas State.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Chargers’ win total in 2014 has been set at 8 and if Rivers plays to the level that he did a year ago then they shouldn’t have much issues hitting the over. San Diego probably overachieved a bit last year but when Rivers cuts down on the turnovers he can be as good as most starting signal-callers.
