Smith Faces Charges
Virginia Beach, VA – Former NFL star Bruce Smith is due to appear in a Virginia court on a drunken driving charge.
Smith’s trial is set for Thursday morning in Virginia Beach General District Court.
The former Virginia Tech standout was charged with DUI last month after a Virginia Beach police officer stopped him for speeding on Interstate 264. He’s also charged with refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
Smith was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year and is scheduled for induction in August. He finished his 19-year career with the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins as the NFL’s all-time sacks leader. He played in 11 Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro selection nine times.
