Colts Season Odds
Some things never change. Water is wet, sky is blue – the Indianapolis Colts are expected to compete for the AFC crown, if not the Super Bowl.
As usual, the Colts were quiet this offseason. Instead of going after high priced free agents, they once again decided to re-sign their own players, including cornerback Kelvin Hayden and center Jeff Saturday. They also decided to part ways with long-time receiver Marvin Harrison, who has yet to sign with another team.
In the draft, the Colts surprisingly drafted a running back in the first round (Donald Brown) instead of addressing other areas. They did fill a huge void along their defensive line with USC tackle Fili Moala in the second round, however.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made the Colts 15/1 to win Super Bowl XLIV. They also gave Indianapolis 7.5/1 odds to win the AFC.
It’s been years since the Colts have had these odds, so if you believe the Colts won’t take a step back in 2009, their odds at 15/1 might never be better. The offense is still stacked and potent, from quarterback Peyton Manning to receiver Reggie Wayne and running back Joseph Addai. But the team did lose long-time offensive coordinator Tom Moore, so some believe that the potential change will be enough to hinder the Colts’ success this season. The bottom line, however, is that this team is still led by Manning, who won’t allow Indy to not be competitive in 2009. It’ll be interesting to see how they fare against the likes of the Patriots, Steelers and Titans this season.
