AFC East Division Odds to Win
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – For as much as things change in the NFL, the more some things stay the same. Such as the Patriots’ odds to win the AFC East Division.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Patriots are 1/2 favorites to win the AFC East Division in 2014. The Dolphins have the next-best odds at 4/1 while the Bills and Jets both have the worst odds to win the division at 15/2, respectively.
The Pats ran away with the division a year ago when they won 12 games and went 4-2 inside the AFC West. The Bills finished with the worst record at 6-10 but managed to split inside the division, which bested the Dolphins’ efforts. Miami and New York both finished with identical 8-8 records but the Dolphins won just two of their six games in the AFC East while the Jets went 3-3 in the division.
Health issues surround the Patriots heading into OTAs but they still have Tom Brady, who continues to play at an elite level despite having marginal talent around him. Even without a healthy Rob Gronkowski for an entire season, Brady still managed to lead the Patriots to the AFC title game, where they promptly lost to Peyton Manning and the Broncos.
The rest of the division is a crap shoot. The Dolphins, Jets and Bills all have talent, but the quarterback position is in flux for all three franchises. Miami has the best signal-caller out of the lot in Ryan Tannehill, while New York (Geno Smith) and Buffalo (E.J. Manuel) will hope that inexperienced second-year quarterbacks will make big leaps in 2014.
