Drat Rumors: Saints in on Beasley?
NEW ORLEANS, LA (The Spread) - Could the Saints be targeting a potential trade up for an edge rusher in next week's draft?
TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline reports that the Saints will at least consider trading up if they feel they are "in striking distance" of Clemson edge rusher Vic Beasley. As Pauline writes, defensive coordinator Rob Ryan loves Beasley's pass-rushing ability and the potential in a 3-4.
Well, who doesn't? While Florida's Dante Fowler Jr. and USC's defensive tackle/end Leonard Williams are also receiving high praise from draft evaluators, Beasley might be the best pure edge rusher in this year's draft class. Sitting at No. 13, the Saints seemingly have zero chance of landing Beasley if they stay put.
The Jaguars, Raiders, Redskins, Jets, Bears and Falcons could all have interest in Beasley in the top 10. It's likely that the former Tiger will be off the board within the first eight picks, if not within the first five selections.
