Jared Allen Sack Odds for 2014
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – How many sacks will Jared Allen register with his new team in 2014? Let’s take a look at the odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the over/under for total number of sacks that Allen will have in 2014 has been set at 12.5. Both the over and the under carrying -115 odds, which means you would win $100.00 for every $115.00 that you wagered on either the over or the under.
On March 26 the Bears signed Allen to a four-year, $32 million contract. This came on the heels of Chicago dumping defensive end Julius Peppers, who signed with Green Bay following his release from the Bears. Allen will now join a solid rotation of Lamarr Houston, Willie Young and Israel Idonije in Chicago’s defense.
“(Retirement) was never my intent, but my point was that (I wasn’t) going to throw my cleats and pads on for a team that had no chance,” Allen told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune on his decision to sign with the Bears. “It was never, ‘Oh, if I don’t get X amount of dollars, I’m walking away.'”
Allen recorded 11.5 sacks a year ago and has recorded at least double-digit sack totals every year since 2006. Over the past seven years, he’s recorded 15.5, 14.5, 14.5, 11, 22, 12 and 11.5 sacks, respectively, for the Chiefs and Vikings. He’s had an unbelievable career and while he is on the backside of his career, he’s clearly still capable of getting after the quarterback.
