According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Patriots are 2.5-point favorites to beat the Rams. The total, meanwhile, sits at 56.5 points. As of this writing, 76% of the public betting tickets are on the Patriots to cover the point spread.
Head-to-Head Series Trends
In the last six meetings between these two teams, the Patriots are 5-1 against the spread. There is a caveat, however. In the last seven meetings between the Patriots and Rams, the underdog is 5-2 at the betting window.
New England Patriots Betting Trends
The Patriots are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven Super Bowls but are 9-3 against the number in their last 12 playoff games, which includes covers versus the Chargers and Chiefs this postseason. New England is also 39-17 at the betting window in its last 56 games overall, is 39-18-2 against the number in its last 59 games following a win and is 82-40-2 ATS in its last 124 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in its previous contest. Finally, the Pats are 22-5-1 against the spread in their last 28 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous contest.
L.A. Rams Betting Trends
The Rams are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four games overall, which includes covers against the Cowboys as a 7-point home favorite in the Divisional round, as well as a 3-point cover as an underdog versus the Saints in the NFC Championship Game. The Rams re also 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games coming off a win but are just 5-15-1 ATS in the last 21 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
Over/Under Betting Trends
The under is 8-3 in the Patriots’ last 11 games overall but the over is 7-1 in their last eight playoff games. The over is also 9-3 in the Rams’ last 12 games after allowing fewer than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
Super Bowl Betting Trends
The favorite dominated at the betting window in the first 14 Super Bowls, covering the point spread in all but three of those games. Recently, it has been the underdog that has had more success.
Super Bowl XLIX wound up as a pick’em between the Patriots and Seahawks, so throwing that game out, the underdog has covered in eight of the last 10 Super Bowls. If you go all the way back to the Patriots’ upset of the Rams as a 14-point dog in Super Bowl XXXVI, the underdog is 12-4 against the spread.
