Sherman needs Tommy John surgery
SEATTLE, WA (TheSpread) – Richard Sherman was clearly playing hurt in Super Bowl XLIX and it was discovered on Monday that he will need Tommy John surgery to repair his injured elbow.
Seattle coach Pete Carroll confirmed the injury with ESPN on Monday, starting that Sherman was never hesitant to play despite knowing the severity of his injury. Typically a baseball player that undergoes this type of injury is out for nine to 12 months, but Sherman’s timetable isn’t expected to be severe because he doesn’t have to throw to do his job on the field.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Seattle Seahawks are the current favorite to win Super Bowl 50, as they have 5/1 odds. The other short odds are the New England Patriots (7/1) and the Green Bay Packers (8/1).
Sherman had a total of 57 tackles this season with four interceptions and eight pass deflections. In the playoffs, Sherman had 10 tackles with two interceptions and three pass deflections. On Sunday, he had just three tackles but was only thrown at a few times in the game.
