Super Bowl National Anthem Props
Can Luke Bryan pull off a successful National Anthem to open Super Bowl LI? Here’s a look at his prop odds.
According to the oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the over/under for Bryan’s rendition of the National Anthem is listed at 2 minutes, 9 seconds. The odds for him to forget or omit a word for the anthem is listed at +400.
Bryan is following in the footsteps of Lady Gaga, Idina Menzel and many others to perform the National Anthem. The country singer is the first male to sing the anthem since Billy Joel in 2007. The average length of time over the last 11 Super Bowl National Anthem’s has been 1:58. Lady Gaga went exactly 2:09 at last year’s Super Bowl while Joel only took 1:30. The longest in recent history was Alicia Keys, who went 2:35 prior to Super Bowl 47. Only three of the last 11 performers have went 2:09 or longer.

When it comes to omitting a word, it’s not unprecedented for it to happen. Christina Aguilera mixed up the wording during her performance at Super Bowl 45. Still, one would expect the performer to drill home the words to make sure they don’t mess up. I am sure this isn’t Bryan’s first time signing the anthem.
