Opening Lines Report
It was brief, but the Chiefs did open as 3.5-point favorites versus the Bucs in Super Bowl LV but that number was quickly bet down to 3, which is where it sits as of this writing. As for the total, it opened at 57 but was bet down to 56.5.
The Chiefs failed to cover in four of the previous five meetings between these two teams while the underdog is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings. While this is technically a neutral site game, it’s worth noting that the home team is also 4-1 at the betting window in the last five meetings between these two teams with the game being played at the Bucs’ Raymond James Stadium.
Early Injury Report
The biggest injury to follow leading up to next week’s Super Bowl is the one suffered by Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher, who exited Sunday’s AFC Championship with an Achilles’ injury. He did not return to the game and could be seen being consoled by teammates and coaches, including head coach Andy Reid. If Fisher can’t play, the Chiefs will be forced to play Mike Remmers at left tackle, Stefen Wisniewski at right guard, and Andrew Wylie at right tackle. It’s a huge blow.
For the Bucs, safety Antoine Winfield Jr. was held out of the NFC Championship Game after he suffered an injury at practice last week. The playmaker racked up 12 total tackles and a forced fumble in two playoff games before missing Sunday’s matchup with the Packers due to an ankle injury. With two weeks to prepare, one would think Winfield will be able to face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.
