Will Newton take over today?
Cam Newton is one win away from a Super Bowl appearance. Can he lead the Carolina Panthers past the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship?
According to oddsmakers at RealBets, Carolina is favored at home, as the Panthers are getting odds of -3 points against the Cardinals. The over/under total has been set at 47.5 points. These two meet tonight at 6:40PM ET on FOX.
Newton is likely the MVP this season as he led the Panthers (16-1, 12-5 ATS) to the top record in the NFL. Newton threw for 3,837 yards and 35 touchdowns this year while rushing for 636 yards and 10 scores. Newton has a lot of expectations to perform as the Panthers lack a lot of stud skill players outside of Greg Olsen. For today’s NFC Championship Newton has been given an over/under of 240.5 passing yards, 1.5 passing touchdowns and 39.5 rushing yards.
Newton and the Panthers are up against the Cardinals (14-3, 9-8 ATS), who have the fifth-ranked defense in the NFL, allowing just 321.7 total yards per game. These two didn’t meet during the season, so its unsure how Newton will match up with Arizona’s D. However, he has thrown for more than 240 yards in 9 games this season and he has multiple TD passes in 10 of 17 games this year. He also has rushed for at least 39 yards in eight games.
