The 2014 AFC Championship Game features the Denver Broncos hosting the New England Patriots at 3PM ET next Sunday. According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Denver is the favorite at home, as the Broncos have odds of -6.5 points against the Patriots. The over/under total for the game has been set at 54.5 points.
These two teams have met once each of the last two seasons with Peyton Manning leading the Broncos and Tom Brady leading the Patriots. This year’s meeting saw New England get a 34-31 overtime win at home on Nov. 24. The Broncos actually took a 24-0 lead into halftime, but the Patriots dominated the second half to force overtime and then won in the extra frame. Each team have over 400 yards of offense, with Denver turning it over four times and New England three times. Manning had just 150 passing yards as Knowshon Moreno rushed for 224 yards and a touchdown. Brady threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns.
Last season, the two met on Oct. 7 with the Patriots picking up a 31-21 win at home. New England jumped out to a 31-7 lead and cruised from there. The Patriots held the Broncos to 394 yards of offense and forced three turnovers from Denver. Manning threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns while Brady had 223 yards and one score. Steven Ridley was the key player in that game, as he rushed for 151 yards and one score.
