Will HOU target Hopkins often?
The Houston Texans will need a playmaker against the Kansas City Chiefs, can DeAndre Hopkins be the playmaker today?
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Kansas City is favored in the game, as the Chiefs are getting odds of -3 points against the Texans. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 40 points. These two meet today at 4:20PM ET on ESPN/ABC.
Hopkins had a breakout year in 2015, establishing himself as one of the top receivers in the NFL for the Texans (9-7, 9-7 ATS). The third-year receiver out of Clemson caught 111 passes for 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, all career-highs for him. He has been a pretty consistent force in the Houston offense all season, tallying six 100-yard games.
The Texans’ offense and Hopkins will do battle with the Chiefs (11-5, 8-8 ATS) today, and Kansas City’s ninth-ranked passing defense. KC is giving up just 231.1 yards per game through the air this season. When these two met to start the season, Hopkins caught 9 passes for 98 yards with two touchdowns. For today’s playoff game, oddsmakers have listed Hopkins’ over/under for receptions at 7 and his over/under for receiving yards at 92.5. Hopkins has caught 7 or more passes in 9 games this year, including his last three outings. He also has had at least 93 yards receiving in nine games. Hopkins has had double-digit targets in all but three games this season, so look for Brian Hoyer to give Hopkins plenty of chances to make plays.
