Seahawks vs. 49ers Prediction

NFL Week 17 Predictions: Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers 1/1/17

Are the Seahawks a safe bet to cover as a double-digit favorite when they visit the 49ers today at 4:25PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Seahawks are now 10.5-point road favorites versus the 49ers after opening as a 9-point favorite. As for the total, the number hit the board at 44.5 and has been bet down to 43.

SEATTLE KEY TRENDS: The Seahawks are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games coming off an ATS loss and are 7-1 against the number in their last eight games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game. They're also an impressive 21-5-2 against the spread in their last 28 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game and have covered in 20 of 27 games when coming off a loss.

SAN FRANCISCO KEY TRENDS: The 49ers have been a good bet in divisional games, covering in five of their last seven contests versus the rest of the NFC West. That said, they're winless at the betting window in their last six home games, are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games versus NFC opponents and are 1-5 against the number in their last six games coming off a win.

OUR PREDICTION: The Seahawks can secure the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye with a win over the Niners and a Falcons' loss to the Saints. Seeing as how they lost last week to the Cardinals, expect Seattle to come out highly motivated and focused to take care of business today in Santa Clara. Meanwhile, reports surfaced on Saturday that the 49ers will move on from GM Trent Baalake and head coach Chip Kelly following this game today. In other words, I'll back the team with something to play for as opposed to the one that will likely look much different in just a few months. Just make sure to buy the hook down to 10.
