Jaguars vs. Colts Prediction
Which team will close out their 2016 season on a positive note when the Jacksonville Jaguars face the Indianapolis Colts today at 1PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Colts are favored at home in this game, as Indy is getting odds of -4.5 points against the Jaguars. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 47 points. Jacksonville won the first meeting of the season on Oct. 2, 30-27, at home. The Jags have won two straight in this series and covered in the last three against the Colts.
The Jaguars put an end to their 9-game losing streak last week with a 38-17 win over the Tennessee Titans to move to 3-12 on the year. The Jags have covered the spread in their last two games to move to 7-8 against the spread for 2016. Jacksonville had a scoring surge last week, as the offense averages just 19.9 points per game this season. Blake Bortles comes into this game putting up 3,604 yards passing with 22 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, but he will come into this game without a great run game as TJ Yeldon, Chris Ivory and Denard Robinson are all battling injuries. Robinson is the only back listed as probable to play on Sunday. Defensively, Jacksonville is giving up 25.1 points and 327.7 yards per game. They have had a pretty good pass defense this year, allowing just 220.4 yards per contest.
The Colts saw their playoff hopes officially end last week in a 33-25 loss to the Raiders in Oakland. Indy is now 7-8 on the season and 7-7-1 against the spread. Indy has had a great offense in 2016, as the Colts average 25.8 points and 380.3 yards per game. The Colts have one of the top pass attacks in the league, averaging 278 yards per game through the air. Andrew Luck has thrown for 3,919 yards and 29 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. TY Hilton has been his leading receiver with 85 catches for 1,353 yards and six scores. Defensively, Indy is giving up 24.8 points and 390 yards per game. The Colts struggle against the pass, allowing 273.7 yards per game through the air.

Jacksonville actually showed some fire last week after Gus Bradley was fired, so perhaps that is something it can build on this week. Chuck Pagano could be fighting for his job in this game, so I don’t expect the Colts to lay down. However, I am not sure all the Indy players are on board with Pagano, so my gut tells me to take a chance on the Jaguars with the points. Jacksonville’s defense could spark some turnovers which leads to a cover.
