NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Memphis wide receiver Maurice Jones was carted off the field with an apparent leg injury during the second quarter of the New Orleans Bowl against Florida Atlantic on Friday night.
Jones went down awkwardly while being gang tackled on a 5-yard reception in Florida Atlantic territory. He appeared to let go of the ball because of the pain and the play was initially ruled a fumble and turnover to Florida Atlantic. It was overturned on video review, however, and Memphis ended the drive with Matt Reagan's 38-yard field goal that cut FAU's lead to 17-10.
A Memphis spokeswoman said there was no immediate word on Jones' condition and that team policy was for coach Tommy West to address the matter after the game.
