GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -Sam Hinnant scored 21 points and was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line to lead East Carolina to a 71-56 win against Coker on Friday night.
Chad Wynn added a career-high 15 points for the Pirates (1-0), who shot 49 percent from the field en route to victory.
Vatrick Thompson led the Cobras (0-1) with 16 points, while Josh Poston added 12 and Mason Abler chipped in 11 in the loss.
The Pirates were up 21-4 at the 12:54 mark in the first and ended the half up 32-22, but a 15-2 run in the second helped put them comfortably ahead the rest of the way.
