WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -Nathan Hedgecock scored 15 points and grabbed two rebounds as Army beat Dartmouth 63-48 Saturday.
Cleveland Richard added 11 points for Army (1-0) and Doug Williams had five rebounds.
Alex Barnett led Dartmouth (0-1) with a game-high 18 points. Jabari Trotter added 15 points, and Elgin Fitzgerald scored 11.
Army’s Chris Walker set the pace when he opened up the scoring with a two-pointer in the first minute of the game. Richard scored a three-pointer just over a minute later, followed quickly by a layup by Hedgecock, which made it 7-0 after less than two minutes of play.
Trotter put Dartmouth on the board with a layup at 16:44 in the first period, and the Big Green went on a run to make it an 11-11 tie four minutes later.
Army regained control at 11:28 in the first period with a layup from Josh Miller, giving them a lead they would not relinquish.
