TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Florida State linebacker Marcus Ball has been suspended for Saturday’s game at No. 11 Virginia Tech for a violation of team rules.
Redshirt junior Rodney Gallon, who would normally take Ball’s place behind starter Dekoda Watson, tweaked his left ankle and left practice early Wednesday and his status for Saturday is uncertain.
“We will have to see what happens tomorrow with Rodney,” linebackers coach Chuck Amato said. “We have a lot of options.”
Ball returned to the lineup in last Saturday’s 27-17 win over Boston College after missing two games with a sprained left ankle. He is third on the team with three pass break-ups, has one sack and recovered a fumble on the season.
Florida State (6-3, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) backup quarterback Xavier Lee will also miss Saturday’s game against the Hokies (7-2, 4-1 ACC), the second of his two-game suspension for a violation of the team’s academic policy. Neither player will travel with the team.
