TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -West Virginia quarterback Pat White limped off the field Friday night during the second quarter of the fifth-ranked Mountaineers’ game at No. 18 South Florida after being tackled at the end of an 18-yard run.
White, who was hit in the right knee by USF safety Jerome Murphy, left the field on his own power and remained on the sideline while backup Jarrett Brown finished a field goal drive that cut West Virginia’s deficit to 14-3 at the half.
There was no immediate announcement on the injury or whether White was expected to return.
