LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -Southern California kick returner Vincent Joseph was hospitalized because of a bruised larynx after leaving Saturday night’s game against Nebraska on a stretcher.
Joseph was hurt when he was hit by Ricky Thenarse on a return after a Nebraska field goal with 9:04 left in the second quarter.
Joseph fumbled on the play and stayed down after teammate Malcolm Smith picked up the ball and returned it 31 yards to the Nebraska 45.
Medical personnel tended to Joseph for more than 10 minutes before he was taken off the field.
Joseph was taken to a hospital by ambulance and was having slight difficulty breathing, Nebraska officials said.
