LOS ANGELES (AP) -Southern California coach Pete Carroll says quarterback Matt Barkley and safety Taylor Mays both will practice this week despite minor injuries.
Barkley has a bruised right shoulder, and Mays has a mild right knee sprain.
Carroll didn’t say whether he expects both players to be ready for the No. 3 Trojans’ Pac-10 opener at Washington on Saturday.
Barkley was hurt during last weekend’s 18-15 victory at Ohio State, but Carroll said the freshman quarterback “will be OK” in a statement released by the school.
Barkley was just 14 for 31 for 195 yards with an interception against the Buckeyes, but led the winning drive late in his second collegiate game.
Mays, an All-American, also will practice this week.
