DURHAM, N.H.(AP) -New Hampshire back-up quarterback Henri “Hank” Hendricks has been charged with murder in California and suspended from the football team.
He is the fifth man charged in San Diego in the beating death of a professional surfer in May.
Hendricks, charged with murder and assault and battery, is scheduled to be arraigned in California on Monday, University of New Hampshire spokeswoman Erika Mantz said in a press release Friday.
Police allege that Hendricks and the four other suspects are members of a gang known as the Bird Rock Bandits. They are accused of killing Emery Kauanui Jr. on May 24.
Hendricks was not arrested immediately after the beating, but gave a statement on his involvement to police a few days later.
