NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -Oklahoma’s depth at middle linebacker is getting tested again after reserve Tom Wort went down with a knee injury.
Sooners coach Bob Stoops said Friday that Wort had torn his anterior cruciate ligament, the same injury that knocked starter Ryan Reynolds out for the second half of last season.
Wort had impressed Oklahoma’s coaches early in practice and seemed to solidify the position where the Sooners had injury issues last season. He was hurt coming down after deflecting a pass during Thursday’s scrimmage.
The Sooners also are waiting to find out whether linebacker Mike Balogun will be allowed to play after his eligibility was taken away by the NCAA. Balogun started in the BCS championship game after Reynolds and backup Austin Box were hurt last season.
