OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) – Former Auburn football player Shaun Kitchens has pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery.
Court documents filed Thursday show that Lee County Circuit Judge Christopher Hughes gave the 21-year-old Kitchens a 15-year split sentence requiring him to spend three years in jail for a robbery committed with teammates at an Auburn trailer park in March 2011.
A probation hearing is scheduled for Sept. 9.
Kitchens and three teammates were all charged with five counts of first-degree robbery.
Mike McNeil was sentenced in April to 15 years, and also must serve at least three under a guilty plea. Antonio Goodwin was convicted and is serving 15 years .
Dakota Mosley is scheduled for trial on June 10.
The players were arrested for the robbery two months after Auburn won the national championship.
