CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) – The NCAA’s enforcement arm says Miami is “grasping at straws” in its efforts to get the case against the school’s athletic department dismissed, such as making personal attacks against the association’s investigators.
The enforcement staff presented that stance, and others, in its response to the motion Miami filed with the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions, a copy of which was obtained Sunday by The Associated Press.
Miami has asked that committee for the case to be brought to an end.
The enforcement staff is the arm of the NCAA that does the investigating, and the Committee on Infractions is a separate group that will actually hear the case and decide which sanctions, if any, need to be levied against Miami.
