CMU vs. Wyoming Bowl Prediction

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Central Michigan vs. Wyoming Predictions 12/22/17

Will Josh Allen lead Wyoming to one last victory when the Cowboys take on Central Michigan in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl at 4:00 p.m. ET on Friday?

ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Wyoming. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cowboys are 3-point favorites to knock off the Chippewas after the game opened as a pick'em. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 46.5 but has been bet down to 45 at most sports books.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Central Michigan. As of Friday morning, 60% of the bets were on the Chippewas to cover the three points and 83% of the money is also on CMU.

INJURY REPORT: The Chips enter this game relatively healthy. Only Michael Steinhauer (undisclosed, questionable) and Brandon Childress (knee, out for the year) are listed on the team's injury report.

As for Wyoming, the Cowboys will have Allen (shoulder, probable) under center today but guard Kaden Jackson is doubtful with a knee injury. The team already lost defensive lineman Conner Cain (ankle) for the year back in October.

WHO WE LIKE: Central Michigan. Don't sleep on the Chips. Granted, everyone beats Kansas but the Jayhawks are still a Big 12 program (barely) and the Chippewas went to Lawrence earlier this season and handed KU a 45-27 loss. They also rebounded from a 3-4 start to earn their fourth straight bowl appearance after finishing second to the eventual MAC West Division champ Toledo.

Yes, Allen should play for Wyoming today in what would be his last opportunity to impressive NFL scouts before heading to the draft in April. That said, Shane Morris finished second in the MAC conference in passing, completing 226-of-407 attempts for 2,908 yards with 26 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. Morris is a former Michigan recruit that transferred to CMU so there's talent under center for both sides today.

The Chippewas are a perfect 5-0 against the spread in their last five games overall, are 4-0 against the number in their last four games following a win, and are 11-3 at the betting window in their last 14 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.

On the other side, the Cowboys are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight non-conference games and have failed to cover in four of their last five games against the MAC.
