Boca Raton Bowl Prediction
Will Western Kentucky and Memphis combine for enough points to push the score of tonight's Boca Raton Bowl over the betting total at 7:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Hilltoppers are 7-point favorites versus the Tigers after opening as a 6.5-point favorite when the bowl lines were first released. As for the total, the number hit the board at 77 but has been bet up a full two points to 79.
MEMPHIS KEY TRENDS: The Tigers are 18-7-1 against the spread in their last 26 non-conference games and are a perfect 6-0 at the betting window in their last six games against Conference USA opponents. That said, they're just 1-6 against the number in their last seven games against opponents with winning records, are 1-4 against the number in their last five games played in December, and are 1-4 ATS in their last five games played at a neutral site.
WESTERN KENTUCKY KEY TRENDS: The Hilltoppers have covered in five of their last six games overall, are 5-1 against the number in their last six games coming off a win, and are 5-2 at the betting window in their last seven games when playing an opponent that owns a winning record. Where they have struggled to cover is playing out of conference, going 0-4 at the betting window in their last four non-Conference USA matchups.
OUR PREDICTION: The Tigers averaged 39.5 points per game during the regular season and racked up 555 yards of total offense against an outstanding Houston defense in their final game a few weeks ago. The Hilltoppers, meanwhile, averaged 45.1 points per game on the season but averaged 52.1 points per game over their last nine contests. Despite losing head coach Jeff Brohm to Purdue, Western Kentucky should still score at will against a Memphis defense that allows 442.7 yards and 27.0 points per game. Get your popcorn ready, because this going to be an entertaining shootout tonight.
