Public Betting Trends
According to the latest oddsmakers, Florida Atlantic is favored at home in this game, as the Owls are getting odds of -7.5 points against UAB. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 50 points. The public betting currently has 76 percent going on FAU as the home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Blazers win three straight
UAB won its last three games to reach the CUSA title game, including a 26-21 win at North Texas last weekend. The Blazers are 9-3 on the season, 6-2 in Conference USA, 7-5 against the spread and 7-4-1 with the under.
The Blazers come into this game with one of the best defenses in the country, allowing just 18.5 points and 271 yards per game. Kristopher Moll is leading the defense with 88 tackles, nine sacks and one interceptions. Offensively, UAB has struggled to just 25.1 points and 363.8 yards per game. Quarterback Tyler Johnston III has thrown for 1,910 yards and 15 touchdowns this year, but is questionable to play with a knee injury. Dylan Hopkins has thrown or 521 yards and three scores in his place and will go if Johnston can’t. Spencer Brown is leading the UAB ground attack with 462 yards and five touchdowns, while Austin Watkins is the leading receiver with 44 catches for 890 yards and five touchdowns.
FAU wins five straight
Florida Atlantic finds itself on a five-game win streak heading into this weekend’s game. The Owls have won all five by double figures, including a 34-17 win over Southern Miss last weekend. FAU is 9-3 on the season, 7-1 in CUSA, 8-4 against the spread and 6-5-1 with the under.
The Owls are putting up 34.1 points and 431.8 yards per game on offense this year to be among the best in the conference offensively. On defense, FAU is allowing 23.7 points and 383.7 yards per contest. Chris Robison has been leading the offense with 3,129 passing yards and 22 touchdowns. Malcolm Davidson is the top rusher with 583 yards and nine touchdowns, while Harrison Bryant is the top receiver with 61 catches for 965 yards and six touchdowns. Akileis Leroy is leading the defense with 94 tackles, 7.5 sacks and three interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
UAB
The Blazers are 4-0-1 with the under in their last five road games and 16-7-1 with the under in their last 24 conference games.
Florida Atlantic
The Owls are 8-1 with the under in their last nine home games and in seven straight games in December.
Prediction:
These two teams haven’t crossed paths in five years. They have hit the over in their last six encounters. The total is set pretty low for this game, but UAB has a statistically strong defense. Still, the Blazers have struggled with that away from home. They have given up at least 21 points in their last three road games, including two games where it gave up 30 or more. FAU has found ways to score in every conference game and I think that will continue on Saturday on its home field. The Owls have the potential to put up 30-40 points on UAB and the Owls aren’t strong enough defensively to pitch a shutout.
