Louisiana red hot
The UL-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns are rolling heading into this game. Since a 17-7 loss at home to Appalachian State on Oct. 9, the Cajuns have won six straight. They come into this game 10-2 overall, 7-1 in the Sun Belt, 9-3 against the spread and 7-5 with the under.
Louisiana is typically a pretty strong offense. The Cajuns are averaging 38.8 points and 500.3 yards per game this season with the ball. Defensively, Lafayette is giving up just 17.8 points and 369.8 yards per contest. Levi Lewis is leading the offense with 2,450 passing yards and 20 touchdowns while three different backs have over 750 yards on the ground. Elijah Mitchell is leading the way with 1,007 yards and 14 touchdowns. Ja’Marcus Bradley is the top receiver with 48 catches for 760 yards and seven scores.
Mountaineers look to add another title
Since a 24-21 loss at home to Georgia Southern, Appalachian State has won four straight, including a win at South Carolina. The Mountaineers are 11-1 on the season, 7-1 in the Sun Belt Conference, 8-4 against the spread and 7-5 with the under.
App State has been pretty solid on both sides of the ball. The defense is giving up just 18.8 points and 321.2 yards per game this season. Offensively, App State is putting up 38.9 points and 437.1 yards per outing. Zac Thomas is leading the offense with 2,427 passing yards and 24 touchdowns while also rushing for 387 yards and seven scores. Darrynton Evans is the top rusher with 1,250 yards and 16 touchdowns, while Corey Xavier Sutton has caught 41 passes for 601 yards and seven touchdowns. Shaun Jolly is leading the defense with 35 tackles and five interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Louisiana
The Cajuns are 6-1 with the under in their last seven conference games and in seven of their last nine games in December.
Appalachian State
The Mountaineers are 6-2 with the under in their last eight games overall and 5-2 with the under in their last seven conference games.
Prediction:
App State hasn’t lost to Louisiana in a conference game and the two have hit the under in six of their seven meetings. The Cajuns haven’t scored more than 19 points in any meeting with the Mountaineers. App State held Lafayette to just 254 total yards in the meeting weeks ago and just 123 rushing yards. I don’t see the Cajuns being able to do much better now going on the road. App State could see an increase in scoring at home, but the Cajuns should still remain competitive enough for the total to remain low.
